Overview

The Tyndale Company, a private, 7x Top Workplace winner and industry leading national supplier of arc-rated flame resistant (FR) clothing to the utilities, oil and gas, transportation, chemical manufacturing, molten metals, and NFPA 70E markets is searching for our new Director of Operations.  We’re a family-owned, and certified woman-owned (WBE) business providing a retail-style apparel experience to hundreds of thousands of energy workers across the US and Canada. We’re the leading distributor of innovative FRC solutions, and the largest industrial supplier of Carhartt FR, Ariat FR, and Wrangler FR clothing.  We are in search of a Director who will build upon our family-like culture and continue to accentuate our operational excellence.

 

The Director of Operations oversees the effective and efficient operations of Tyndale's PA based Distribution Center.  This includes leadership of operational staff across all aspects of Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, and Production. This Director maintains compliance with all of Tyndale's policies, procedures, quality and operational standards and leads Operations in alignment with business goals.  Collaboration across all departments such as Supply Chain Operations, Sales, Marketing, IT and others to facilitate timely, accurate, and efficient customer service is a must. This Director will develop and manage external relationships with suppliers, vendors, 3PL’s and industry consortiums to ensure seamless and cost-effective operations.

 

To be considered, candidates will be required to work onsite 5 days per week and reside within a commutable distance to Tyndale headquarters in Pipersville, PA (Bucks County).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a leadership team to execute activities for Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Distribution and Logistics, Shipping and Receiving, Embellishment Operations and Retail Store support;
  • Manage and continuously improve operational metrics to drive operational, supply and customer service performance;
  • Communicate routinely other Distribution Center leaders to ensure effective and efficient operations across the supply chain network;
  • Manage development and execution of the annual budget for all personnel, supplies, equipment and other costs for the distribution center;
  • Ensure key processes and systems are operational and life cycle managed in support of zero unplanned operational downtime. This includes, ERP, Warehouse Management, Shipping/Receiving, Reporting and other key systems.
  • Oversee and monitor inventory control of finished goods from receiving through customer fulfillment. This includes continual cycle count process;
  • Partner with Human Resources to hire, train, develop, and coach the distribution center managers to ensure proper staffing and training levels;
  • Coordinate the cross-training and sharing of members and workloads between departments during low and peak seasons;
  • Work with the Safety Committee to proactively maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety guidelines are followed;
  • Coordinate with other department managers and staff for orders requiring special fulfillment attention;
  • Work with the departmental Managers and leadership team to determine outsourcing needs and projections;
  • Conduct tours of the Distribution Center to existing and potential customers;
  • Leverage Facilities Maintenance Staff to resolve any maintenance issues;
  • Conduct daily/weekly operational reviews to ensure efficient communication and execution;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer discrepancies;
  • Proactively monitor workload and adjust accordingly;
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned;

Periodic Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in Senior Management Planning Sessions, Director’s meetings, and other Company meetings as required;
  • Assess short term and long term objectives on a quarterly basis;
  • Review with VP Operations and Supply Chain quarterly demand projections to adjust labor requirements;
  • Perform capital improvement research and execution to continuously improve the business.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field required;
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) preferred;
  • 8+ years management experience in Manufacturing Operations, Warehouse Operations or Supply Chain Operations;
  • Distribution and Logistics knowledge and experience required;
  • Experience with automated systems, barcode technology and IT platforms;
  • Background in apparel supply a plus;
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, a plus;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Detail oriented planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong negotiating skills;
  • Computer skills including a strong knowledge of Word, Excel and warehouse management software required; 
  • Must have excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must work well on a team and possess skill in managing supervisors;
  • Strong inter-personal skills.
