Overview

Do you thrive in sustaining a positive work environment?  Do you prioritize operational efficiency, managing people, and safety?  If so, Tyndale has an incredible opportunity for a full-time Warehouse Manager to join our Houston Distribution Center located right outside of the Greenspoint area. This people-focused Warehouse Manager will be responsible for not only the general supervision and oversight of a 2-shift warehouse operation, which includes: picking, shipping, receiving, quality, and returns, but also ensuring the safety, efficiency, and overall success of the Warehouse team.  The Warehouse Manager must be an excellent communicator, as the success of the Distribution Center relies on seamless Warehouse internal and external collaboration.  

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a staff of 30 to 75 associates, manage and perform all administrative duties including scheduling, PTO oversight, timesheets, productivity reports, etc;
  • Develop and refine training process for all full time and temp seasonal staff, with special emphasis on thorough temp training and orientation;
  • Assign and deploy staff and other resources to meet daily operational objectives;
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to maximize efficiencies and strategize short term and long term goals;
  • Oversee the daily printing of the morning allocation and various reports to meet needs of DC;
  • Monitor backlogs and evaluate DC operational status to initiate, take appropriate action, and execute on priorities and areas of greatest need;
  • Communicate with other DC line managers daily to ascertain special needs or issues. Also communicate with Supply and Mfg departments regarding receiving and vendor issues;
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a high performing team of Supervisors and hourly members  
  • Ensure proper training, discipline, and utilization of WMS and other systems procedures and processes are maintained;
  • Communicate effectively by utilizing email, one on one conversation(s), having floor presence, and being available to both shifts;
  • Extensive daily utilization of the WMS is required including inventory adjustments, de-allocations, location maintenance, etc;
  • Manage utilization of space, power equipment, and other physical resources to maximize efficiency and performance;
  • Monitor compliance to corporate safety and security policies;
  • Monitor compliance to inventory accuracy, discipline, and integrity of the inventory. Oversee and initiate cycle counting on regular intervals;
  • Maintain oversight of all department operating supplies;
  • Write and deliver timely Introductory, Interim, and Annual reviews;
  • Create complex budgets and manage department to budgetary goals;
  • Maintain and acquire knowledge of material handling and technology improvements, innovation, trends, and opportunities that may be practical for Tyndale warehouse operations;
  • Analyze performance to established labor standards and review work processes for improvement to standards;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred;
  • A minimum of 5 years of Managerial/ Supervisory experience;
  • A minimum of 5 years of Distribution, Logistics, or Warehouse environment required;
  • Familiarity and experience with WMS (including hand-held scanners) preferred;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required;
  • Effective problem solving and leadership skills required;
  • Ability to operate (or basic knowledge of) powered material handling equipment required;
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word required;
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required;
