    Tyndale has an exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator to work in our dynamic IT Department. The Database Administrator will work to support Tyndale’s usage of database systems for internal and external customers, ensuring a performant and reliable experience when using Tyndale’s custom applications and systems. *Both local and remote candidates will be considered for this position.*

    Responsibilities

    • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security;
    • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end;
    • Assist Developers and Business Analysts with complex query tuning and schema refinement;
    • Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems;
    • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours;
    • Manage backup and recovery procedures;
    • Own, track, and resolve database related incidents and requests, and fulfill requests and resolve incidents within SLAs;
    • Review service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs;
    • Respond to database related alerts and escalations and work with the Infrastructure Team to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree or equivalent technical experience preferred;
    • 3+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required (SQL 2005+);
    • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server;
    • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory;
    • 2+ years of experience as a DBA for MySQL or MariaDB required;
    • Experience with Percona MySQL 5.7+ preferred;
    • Experience with ProxySQL and MySQL Clustering;
    • Experience supporting all phases of the system development life cycle including development, testing, QA and production;
    • Familiarity with NoSQL databases a plus;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication;
    • Flexible, team player;
    • Ability to organize and plan work independently.
