    Tyndale Company, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Shipping Supervisor to join our team at our Houston, TX distribution center. The Shipping Supervisor will ensure that the correct items are shipped to the correct customers using the most cost effective method while meeting all service expectations. They will oversee the shipping team and motivate them to work in a timely and efficient manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Assign and manage the workflow for a staff of between 8 to 15 regular employees and additional seasonal and/or temporary staff in the Houston shipping department. Monitor the staffing level to ensure the department can meet its objective while not being over-staffed;
    • Train, manage performance, coach and develop shipping employees/temp employees, and to build an effective team;
    • Accountable for driving performance within the Houston Shipping department, and for monitoring department performance against company standards;
    • Oversee and monitor the efficiency of the shipping department procedures and information systems including external linkage with UPS/FedEx sites. Propose and evaluate improvements and upgrades as needed;
    • Determine the standards for packaging quality, appearance, durability, cost and sustainability. Ensure these standards are consistently met;
    • Order and control the integrity of supplies inventory;
    • Some data entry and research in our ERP/WMS system;
    • Follow all cleanliness procedures utilizing the 5S methodology.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum High School Diploma required, with a College Degree or some College strongly preferred;
    • Previous experience working in a shipping department and/or related experience strongly preferred;
    • Detail-oriented;
    • Strong organization skills;
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
    • Customer-focus;
    • Ability to multi-task;
    • Solid computer skills- MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred but not required;
    • Effective problem-solving skills;
    • Strong leadership competency;
    • Strong negotiation skills;
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
