    Are you an experienced HR Generalist with a passion for HR and for institutionalizing HR excellence through effective business partnerships with management and employees? Do you have solid experience with progressive HR practices and approaches? We are seeking a talented, passionate, experienced, service-oriented human resources generalist to provide HR organizational support at our local Houston Distribution Center.

     

    In this role, you will have responsibility for oversight and implementation of all company HR services at that location. You will work in partnership with corporate HR to provide a high level of service to the Houston Distribution Center by advising and assisting management and employees on employee issues and concerns through communicating, interpreting and recommending appropriate use of human resource policies, procedures, and services. The HR Generalist works collaboratively as a member of the HR Team to support the company’s overall strategic vision through providing HR excellence.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as the primary HR consultant to managers and employees at the geographical location by providing information about company policies, HR programs and practices.
    • Conducts full-cycle recruiting for all open positions at location, to include building recruiting strategy, drafting job postings, posting jobs, conducting phone screens and relevant onsite interviews, scheduling interviews, coordinating any required pre-employment assessments, consulting with hiring managers about selection decisions, making and negotiating offers. Leverages passive recruiting methodologies, and implements strategies to create pipeline;
    • Coaches managers to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase, productivity and retention to enhance employee engagement and successful business outcomes;
    • Serves a member of the HR Team, and participates in department initiatives and project assignments, as assigned;
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations;
    • Leverages knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees in order to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance;
    • Compiles information and creates presentations to support human resources initiatives and projects, as requested;
    • Conducts new hire onboarding, including new hire paperwork, HR topical training, etc.;
    • Conducts exit interviews to capture employee feedback and drive employee engagement;
    • Bilingual responsibilities include: translating employee communication materials, conducting tours and interviews in Spanish, maintain ongoing communication with employees concerning the company’s HR policies, programs, and activities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or Management or related field required;
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a full-time direct HR role, with a minimum of 2 years in a full generalist role with functional responsibility in at least two key areas of HR required; Prior experience in employee relations, performance management, leave administration, and/or recruiting strongly preferred;
    • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR highly desired;
    • Solid knowledge of current federal and state laws;
    • Strong customer service focus with a sense of urgency and excellent follow through;
    • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization; Proven ability to effectively communicate with line level employees through senior leaders;
    • Strong proficiency and prior experience with HRMS systems required; experience using Ultimate Software and iCMS ATS a plus;
    • Must be able to perform analytical tasks and be highly detail-oriented and meticulous about ensuring information produced is accurate;
    • Must be able to appropriately, discretely and effectively handle and communicate sensitive information and have a strong understanding of confidentiality;
    • Experience thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment that is results oriented and collaborative;
    • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver compelling presentations;
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills, Experience with creating and maintaining Affirmative Action Plans a plus;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication;
    • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to integrate HR and business strategies;
    • Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees of all levels in the organization;
    • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required;
    • Occasional overnight plane travel to corporate office will be required.
